The Bible is filled with stories of individuals who overcame seemingly insurmountable challenges. Men and women from various walks of life accomplished incredible feats—not because of their age, appearance, strength, or skin colour, but due to one common trait: a relentless, never-give-up attitude.

We’ve often heard the saying, “Your attitude determines your altitude in life.” This truth transcends cultures, eras, and generations. Naturally, attitudes can be either positive or negative. It’s been said that a bad attitude is like a flat tire—you won’t get far unless you change it. I’ve known people who haven’t made progress in life because they constantly start things without following through. They never stick to a goal from beginning to end.

Attitude truly is everything, so choose a good one. A good attitude is characterized by persistence, resilience, and a refusal to quit. Many people possess the talent and motivation to start something but lack the mindset to finish it. When obstacles arise, they give in and abandon their efforts. As a result, they rarely achieve their goals and often fail to find success. Instead of reflecting on their actions, they frequently place the blame for their failures on others.

In contrast, successful individuals are marked by courage, determination, and an unwavering resolve to complete what they set out to do. They don’t focus on temporary setbacks or lack of resources. Instead, they rely on God for strength and guidance to persevere through challenges.

When God appointed Joshua to lead the Israelites, He told him three times to be strong and courageous. Why was this necessary? One might think that because Joshua was chosen by God to succeed Moses, his journey would be easy. But it wasn’t. He faced not only opposition from external enemies but also resistance within his own ranks. Yet, in the end, Joshua remained steadfast, passed his tests, and his legacy lives on—his name is immortalized in the Bible as a testament to his perseverance.

If you read Hebrews chapter 11, you’ll see a list of men and women who, through faith, never gave up. Their determination is the reason their names are remembered. Had they quit, their legacies would have been lost to failure, erased from history’s hall of faith.

What about you? What kind of mindset do you have? Are you someone who gives up easily, or do you have the courage and perseverance to keep moving forward, even when it’s tough?

Perhaps you’ve failed before, but so what? Failure is an event, not a destination. Every hero of faith you read about in the Bible faced failure at some point, but they pressed on.

Jesus encouraged His disciples to pray and never give up. As for me, I choose to do the same—I refuse to give up.
