Intercessory Prayer and Fasting

A Strenght that Emerges when People Unite

While individual prayer is incredibly powerful, there is a unique strength that emerges when people unite in faith for corporate prayer. Coming together in prayer allows us to bring heaven to earth and make a collective impact as one Body.

The local church has the potential to transform the atmosphere of its city, nation, and the world. Intercessory prayer within the church can move mountains and set the stage for signs, miracles, and wonders.

At Faithlift church, we are focusing on seven key areas of intercessory prayer. While there are many others, these points are essential for effectively stewarding the land God has entrusted to us:

  1. Pray for Unity in Our Church:Begin with this crucial point. Unity within the church is fundamental because disunity can hinder the effectiveness of our prayers. Strife can disrupt agreement (James 3:16), so pray for unity to ensure your prayers are harmonious and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
  2. Pray for Our City:Your church has a spiritual responsibility for its city (Joshua 1:3). Interceding for your city is vital and impactful. For example, a church in San Francisco found that crime ceased whenever they worshipped and ministered in the streets.
  3. Pray for Our Nation:Your personal peace is linked to the peace of your city and nation (Jeremiah 29:7). Believers are called to intercede, repent, and humble themselves for the nation, both individually and as a collective body (2 Chronicles 7:14).
  4. Pray for Our Government Leaders:We are instructed to pray for all leaders, not just those we favor (1 Timothy 2:1-6). Unified intercession can influence leaders toward righteousness, often in ways they might not even recognize.
  5. Pray for the 7 Mountains of Influence:These include media, education, business, government, arts and entertainment, religion, and family. We must intercede for each of these areas where ungodly voices often dominate and seek to reclaim them for God’s purposes.
  6. Pray for Revival:Revival starts when people turn to God and is sustained through repentance and a rejection of sin. It flourishes wherever God’s Word is embraced and acts of faith are evident. Revival brings miracles, signs, and transformative changes (Mark 16:20).
  7. Pray for Pastors:Pastors face significant challenges and need our support through prayer. They are vulnerable to attacks, and our prayers are vital in protecting and uplifting them. We must stand against any schemes of the devil and support our pastors (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

These seven intercession points are crucial for our church to exercise its God-ordained authority and dominion. A church that prays is a powerful church. Let’s  all be participant in intercessory prayer because Jesus said, “Is it not written, My house Shall be call a house of Prayer for all nations.” (Mark 11:17)
